A new TrailTack outsole features ample lugs and grippy rubber to keep you moving fast even when you encounter a few gnarly trail sections or a bought of rainy weather. Other updates include a mesh upper with fewer overlays for a lighter weight and greater breathability, as well as the use of durable Cordura for the mudguard to ensure that your romps through the slop don't come at the cost of a new pair of socks. If you're familiar with previous versions of the Cascadia you'll recognize the Pivot Post system in the midsole. The pivots are reduced in size to save weight, but still work as a suspension system to keep your stride stable and steady when you're running on rugged and uneven surfaces.
